On a side note, I suspect that, had you asked permission in the Staff Communication subforum, they would have given you the OK to bump the old thread. The feedback from people who have actually played the game appear to be generally positive - e.g., " Command & Conquer Rivals Isn't What Fans Wanted, But It's Fun" from Kotaku or "Hands-on with 'Command & Conquer Rivals'" from Engadget. So, when I've asked, nobody has even bothered to explain why C&C: RIvals is going to be terrible when C&C: Renegade wasn't and when people were really psyched for Tiberium. In any case, one think that I really love about Twisted Insurrection is how emphasizes aspects of the factions' designs and technologies that don't get a lot of elaboration in the canon games or other fan designs - e.g., Nod's bikes and buggies get replaced with light tanks and laser drones, GDI's mech technology gets used for an anti-aircraft platform and an MLRS, etc. I'm almost certain that the Cyborg Commando isn't from C&C3, but rather from Tiberian Sun. I have the strongest sense that I'm missing something here.

Of course, I still lose to the skirmish AI in vanilla Tiberian Sun, so I'm not sure I'm really the best yard stick for this. I'm not sure about the single player campaign, but I don't think the skirmish is that much harder than vanilla Tiberian Sun's.

Here are a few visual samples:Īdmittedly, it's my first real post in a long time. This thread is about those mods and fan projects that are helping sustain the healthy afterlife of C&C.

Not only in terms of online communities, but also in terms of modding, with quite a few ambitious projects still being supported. The pay to win, micro-transaction laden mobile farce that's C&C Rivals needs no introduction, though one may (not) be surprised to hear of the Red Alert mobile game being released in China (in collaboration with Tencent) that's also receiving negative backlash from Chinese fans.Īs easy as it is to harp on the gloom or proclaim the series officially dead, however, it's worth mentioning how for all intents and purposes the ones keeping the legacy alive are among the fandom.

And given recent events, it's more fitting than ever.ĮA's continued butchering and defilement of the venerable Command and Conquer franchise isn't exactly breaking news at this point. While I'm not the OP of the original thread, consider this a continuation.
